Beta Technologies' stock soared 25.5% in after-hours trading following Amazon's disclosure of an 11.8 million-share stake in the electric aircraft startup. The SEC filing revealed Amazon holds approximately 5% of Beta's outstanding shares, reigniting investor interest despite the stock's 41% year-to-date decline prior to the announcement.

The e-commerce giant originally backed Beta in 2021 through its Climate Pledge Fund, but the timing of the stake disclosure has raised questions about Amazon's strategic intentions. Beta competes in the burgeoning electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) market against players like Joby Aviation and Archer Aviation.

Market observers note the disclosure comes months after Beta's November IPO at $34 per share, where both Amazon and GE Aerospace were listed as major shareholders. The ALIA electrified aircraft platform remains central to Beta's value proposition as aviation seeks sustainable alternatives.
